About the SWCS Empire State Chapter

The New York Chapter of the Soil and Water Conservation Society is part of a national network of advocates working to achieve sustainability by promoting conservation, awareness and management of soil, water, and other natural resources. We are a nonprofit organization involved in scientific research and educational outreach. We work with academics, landowners, communities and government bodies to develop plans and policies to care for renewable natural resources.

News

1/9/04:: We are proud to co-sponsor the 2005 National Soil and Water Conservation Society's Annual meeting!! The meeting will be held July 30 - August 3, 2005 in Rochester, NY. We are co-sponsoring the event with the Ontario, Canada SWCS chapter. Stay tuned for more information on this event.

12/14/03:: The new version of the NY Standards and Specifications for Soil And Erosion Sediment Control Guidelines will be available in May 2004. Stay tuned!!

9/2/03:: We are a proud co-sponsor of the 2003 Conservation Skills Workshop, to be held Oct. 6-10th in Cortland, NY. Cost is only $10 per person. The registration deadline is Sept. 28th. Download the PDF course list, information and registration form.
