The annual twilight field day at Cornell's Freeville Organic Research Farm in Freeville, NY will be held Monday, August 18th from 4-7pm. The field day offers farmers and researchers an opportunity to discuss issues in organic agriculture ranging from seed saving to compost use to weed management and rotations. Participants will explore soil quality and reduced-tillage strategies; sample improved varieties; learn about plant breeding; and discuss whole systems demonstrations and the farms that inspired them. The Freeville Organic Research Farm comprises 30 acres adjacent to the Homer C. Thompson Vegetable Research Farm in Freeville, NY, about 10 miles northeast of Cornell's Ithaca campus. The farm is managed by Cornell University's Ag Experiment Station (CUAES) as a site for interdisciplinary research aimed at optimizing organic vegetable production systems for the Northeast. To get directions to the Freeville Organic Research Farm, visit http://www.hort.cornell.edu/organicfarm/about.html.  For more information, contact Melissa Madden at (607) 351-3313 or mam233@cornell.edu. This event is free and open to the public.
