Welcome to the SWCS Empire State Chapter
The Soil and Water Conservation Society is dedicated to maintaining and preserving the earth's healthy land and clean water. With 10,000 members representing 80 countries around the world, the SWCS is a network of advocates working to achieve sustainability by promoting conservation, awareness and management of soil, water, and other natural resources.
The Empire State Chapter of the Soil and Water Conservation Society is the New York branch of this network. As a nonprofit organization, we are involved in scientific research and educational outreach. We work with academics, landowners, communities and government bodies to achieve the following objectives:
- Advocate the conservation, protection, enhancement and wise use of soil, water and related natural resources
- Develop and communicate a worldwide knowledge base on the conservation, protection, enhancement and wise use of soil, water and related natural resources
- Promote a stewardship ethic of soil, water and related natural resources that recognizes the interdependence of people, soil, water and natural resources
